Animals in Dreams
So lately I have had a lot of dreams around nature & animals. Tons of turtles have appeared in my dreams. Yes, I have a pet turtle (who was originally my significant other's but now I am the primary caretaker), Dexter the red-eared slider (water turtle). The 1st dream I had, there were different animals in each room that I was caring for & the turtle room had all kinds of turtles. My daughter left the door open & the dogs were going in & turtles coming out. It was crazy! Then I had a dream I was floating in water & there were sea turtles swimming all around. In my last dream, I was out in nature & I kept seeing large tortoises. So it seems like turtles keep appearing in my dreams in droves.
I was watching a Nicky Alan Youtube Video (my current favorite psychic) & she mentioned nature & animals being a theme in dreams a lot lately. She mentioned looking them up to find out more about their symbolism & meaning, so I did.

The site has animal meanings, spirit animal quizzes, find your animal, & so on. I am just going to go over symbolism/meaning of 5 most common animals seen in dreams:
1. CATS

Dreams are our subconscious minds communicating to us using the language of symbols. While some traditions think that a dream of a cat is a bad omen, this meaning is loosing favor in our more modern times. Dreams of cats have more often come to symbolize your feminine essence and sensuality. Dreams about cats may also be a message to tap into your inner mischievous and mysterious nature. A black cat in your dreams may be telling you to pay attention to your intuition. As far back as the ancient Egyptians and possibly farther, cats have been believed to be able to travel between dimensions. Is there a message from another dimension here for you?
2. DOGS
Dog is man's best friend. Accordingly dreaming of a dog or dogs can signify spending time with friends. If the dog appeared happy such as with a wagging tail, it may mean good times with good friends. If the dog appeared angry such as with snarling teeth or growling, it may mean there is some disagreement with friends. If you dream of two dogs fighting, it may mean that you will be called upon to help settle a dispute between two friends. If this is the case, remember that stepping between two aggressive dogs can be dangerous! Humans have also used dogs for protection. If the dog in your dreams is a large breed, it may symbolize that you have a protector by your side!
3. SNAKES
When a snake appears in your dreams, it most likely acts as an animal spirit guide inviting you to look at important facts or dynamics that are impacting your life. Snakes featured in dreams often leaves a strong impression on the dreamer: Such dreams tend to be frightening or disturbing because they call on strong unconscious energy.
Whether the snake spirit animal featured in your dream leaves a positive or negative impression, its presence should be considered as an invitation to look at positive changes and transformation.
4. HORSES
When a
horse is featured in a dream, it likely represents your energy or drive to express your authentic self and succeed in life. This spirit animal could also be a reflection of how well you deal with your primitive desires and urges, whether you live with them in harmony or if they are difficult to control.
It could signal that you need to weigh pros and cons of a situation or relationship that looks uncertain or risky. Is your horse winning or losing in the race? The outcome may reflect how you feel regarding your relationship, especially as it relates to sexuality.Seeing a horseshoe in your dream: Horseshoes are symbols of chance; they are considered as lucky charms in a lot of cultures and could be a sign that luck is on its way in resolving matters regarding personal health, relationship and possibly business.
Dreaming about a talking horse:
A horse who talks in your dream could be a manifestation of your animal spirit guide bringing you a message from your instinctive self or your unconscious.
5. SPIDERS
The symbolism of the spider in dreams is generally associated with the archetype of the feminine. If the spider appears in your dreams as a spirit animal guide or as your totem, pay attention to the messages it’s offering to you: They are likely related to an important direction you’re taking in your life.
When you dream of spiders, chances are that it refers feminine energy in your life. This dream symbol could represents a woman you know or your own connection with qualities usually considered as feminine, such as receptivity, patience, creativity.
An important element to consider when you interpret the meaning of the encounter with the spider in your dream is the reaction and feelings you experienced at that time: Were you afraid? Or rather intrigued or fascinated? Was the overall atmosphere of the dream scary and stressful or enchanting, adventurous?
If you want to kill it, you might be repressing some feelings or trying to remove tension from your life. If it looks harmful or it is threatening to you, you may feel that some aspects of your personality or your life are not aligned with your highest interest or that you or your people around you are rejecting them. The spider in a negative dream could symbolize your fears or an adverse influence in your life.
SO WHAT ABOUT THE TURTLES IN MY DREAMS?
TURTLE
Turtles are known for taking it slow……real slow! If turtle shows up in your dreams, it may be telling you it’s time to slow down for a while. Are you moving too fast? Pushing too hard?
The turtle also has a hard shell that it retreats into when presented with danger. If your dream turtle is hiding in its shell, it could be a warning that danger is approaching. However it could also be a message about coming out of your shell. In what ways have you been hiding? It may very well be time for you to come out and share your gifts with the world!
